Mr. has done well for himself this year. He got to travel out of the country for the first time and went to Japan, and then Nigeria. One of the perks of hard work is company parties. Of course we know how much he love sports and Texas Tech Red Raiders was the team to follow!
Mrs. started a home business working for SimplyFun. Playing games and making memories with family and friends is what she enjoys. Her father was diagnosed with cancer in August, and she struggled emotionally the first few months. She recently started a women's group and through it all recognized that she isn't alone. She values her individual worth and relies on her faith in God to get through all life's challenges and she is thankful for her many blessings.
Mariana loves being in Jr. high. She plays the Euphonium in band and made first chair! She will soon be a young woman!
David is a Bear in Boy Scouts and recieved a red bead of progress in Duty to Country! He is doing extremely well in learning to play the piano.
Joshua loves kinder. but we have to drag him out of bed every morning! He was recently the fastest boy in his class for running. Although he talks a lot, he is doing Exellent.
Ethan had his first encounter with snow (a once in a blue moon miracle in our city) and he was scared! For entertainment, he uses his imagination! He likes to sing "We are a happy family!"

Where have the days gone?
I know I typed up an update in October? Well a big chunk is missing. So much has happened! I guess that teaches me not to rely on the computer so much! I could go backwards and tell you everything, but I'll just say that life has been good. Some challenges of course, life isn't a bed of roses, but we learn and grow through those experiences!

Independance Day!
The Family had a wonderful Independance day! The afternoon was spent with family and friends. The children voted on the evening plan to stay at home and pop fireworks. The street show was just as good as going downtown!
Work projects for Mr. have kept him working slightly later at the office. He also had to work a few hrs. on the 4th and saturday the next morning. These are sacrifices he makes to have positive work opportunities. His work is very interesting. Thanks to a good word put in, Mr. got a raise!
Mrs. had a blast planning a birthday party! She also succeeded in making two cakes! Her desire to ease the work load of Mr. came true! Her two nights of Defensive Driving classes were held at an adjacent building to his office, so afterwards she hung out and helped Mr. put some binders together. She was glad to help, so he could finally take his vacation! This was a month of first time events such as going down a water slide and going to an art gallery!
Vacation was so much fun! The family went to a ranch, waterpark, San Jacinto to see Battleship Texas and Monument, Natural Science Museum, and art galleries.
Joshua Michael turned 5! He got a new big boy haircut, a new outfit, and got to see the Wall-E movie. This year his party was a Pirate theme. He is very independent, and his best quality is being so caring.

Summer Time!
Groom and Bride try to set a good example for their kids, but sometimes they are tested. As they communicate and work as a team they know they can do anything for their family. The couple’s summer exercise routine has begun with a goal of looking great for their 2nd honeymoon trip later this year!
Mr. is always known for working hard to take care of his family. He doesn’t always get credit for the wonderful things that he does and so Father’s day is a special day! Upon last minute request the children danced to the classic 80’s song, Don’t Touch This by M.C. Hammer. As they handed over the remote control, the point was that no one but Father had rights to the remote control! Card and coupons were presented that made him smile. When anyone in the family has a concern, he is the guy to turn to for support. He is loved greatly by his family.
Mrs. got to apply for a passport and received it the following week! She is excited to travel again later this year for the first time since childhood. Financial obligations because of a driving ticket were finally taken care of which was a big relief. Her next step is a defensive driving class. Speaking of driving, she thinks being on the road is scary! Because of a small scare one day as she was driving she could not help shedding tears of gratitude for the quick reflexes she had at the moment to help protect her and the children from being in an accident. She blames the confusion of all the new roads being built! She has created a new Blog with a spiritual theme. She testifies that when God comes first everything else just falls into place!
Mariana received an A/B Honor Roll certificate along with several other academic achievements. To honor the 5th graders the last week of school, they received door prizes and she got tickets to a Family Food & Fun place called iT’Z (she enjoyed those tickets at the end of the month with her friends and mom, followed by swimming. It was a great “Girls Day Out” for her)! At the school talent show Mariana performed two pieces on the piano. She really knows how to awe the audience. All her practicing in piano paid off for her when she received a Gold Cup and Judges Choice Award for the Texas Federation of Music Clubs District Festival. The Connecticut Opera Alliance presented her with the Joan Brainard Noland Junior Artist Award for a superior piano performance in the festival with a check for $15.00. It was a great compliment to Mariana when a parent (with a music degree) said that it takes some college students in music many yrs. to play the way she does. Her parents are also very pleased that she accomplished getting her closet cleaned out!
David received an A/B honor roll certificate for superior achievement and academic excellence for the school year, with a coupon to Whataburger. The last day of school he was presented with a certificate of excellence for being voted “Fastest Runner” by classmates. He was also accepted into the REACH program (Recognizing Extraordinary Abilities in Children). In order to qualify he must have received Commended Performance on Reading or Math state testing, have an 85 or higher overall average, and returned completed parent checklist. He will receive instruction according to his abilities and learning style. He also received his grade on his research paper which was a 100% and his teacher wants to use it as next yrs. sample.
Ethan and Joshua are so excited to have their brother and sister out of school!
The kids picked 5lbs. at an outing at the blueberry farm. They enjoy swimming, visiting out of town family, picnics at the park, summer reading programs, playing with friends, and staying up late!

Mayhem!
May was such a busy month for the Ridgely Family!
Mark Allen made a trip to Korea, where he worked for 5 days. He is thankful for the opportunity to see new places. He didn't enjoy the long flights, and time away from family. In his spare time he mostly has been playing basketball. The church basketball team had a couple of family days where the young guys played against the old. His personal cheerleader was on the edge of her seat cheering him on! He made some great shots in a very close game...they one by one point! In the rematch a week later they won by a long shot.
Monica somehow manages to be everywhere at the right time and place. Her heart aches at the thought of having another child leave the nest to begin elementary school, and a child going into middle school. She stepped out of her comfort zone and she ventured out to find sponsors for the 5th grade appreciation party. Volunteer work makes her happy! She is thankful for being a Mother and the things that her children teach her.
The children continue with their many activities, have been healthy, and bring much joy to those around them.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
They love each other by serving one another. They serve others by being an example of the Lord’s teachings.
Small acts of kindness for family members brought a change in attitude around the home this month.
Mark was extra helpful with household chores. He left an inviting valentine for an afternoon romantic lunch date. With patience gathered his family together every night for family prayer.
Monica entered a “nesting” phase and did some early spring cleaning in rooms, rearranging furniture throughout the home, and painted a wall with a chalkboard effect for her artistic wall painters! For Valentines she enjoyed giving sweet treats to everyone. With Mother by her side stayed up all night sewing an 1865 fashioned dress for daughter’s school project. Enjoying, new daily project of photographing something that makes her smile.
Mariana shared her musical talents at an event representing the state. Gave a report on First Lady Eliza Johnson and received a grade of 100%. She has included a couple of more members into her book club with a total of six fantastic young girls. Learned some basketball skills with mother’s help and really likes it!
David left his roommates and now has his own room. After going over his scout book it was discovered that he had accomplished quite a bit. He baked a cake with his mom for a Scout Blue and Gold Banquet. He earned a Baseball belt loop, and two beads for progress toward ranks.
Joshua made a new friend who has the same name and is the same age! He has learned to count to ten in Spanish.
Ethan is quite the “Handy Mandy” finding tools to take things apart! Loves Peanut Butter and Jelly!

Happy New Year!
Yeah it's 2008! “Remember the past laughter and tears. Then be thankful cuz it’s a New Year!”
Celebrating the New Year with Family has always been a favorite tradition. This year a cake was made. Monica is not a talented cake baker or decorator and ruined it by putting the candles in as soon as it came out of the oven! The mistake was quickly discovered and a “cooled” down cake and tall sparkly candles made everything turn out great!
They had an array of first emotions Mark was happy, Monica was happy, Mariana was hyper, David was not feeling well, Joshua was sound asleep, and Ethan was scared of the fireworks.
Some goals mentioned: To be healthier, make good friends, not to change because the world is, by being “Steadfast and Imoveable”.
The loving couple doesn’t change much, they have their set routines. He works hard to take care of the family, and she works hard to raise the children. Together they love and encourage one another and their children.
Mark enjoys playing basketball and watching sports. This year he is teaching Sunday School to the 11yr olds.
Monica is constantly planning, so many ideas swimming in her head! She wants to find something to smile about every day! Staying close to the Lord through scriptures and prayer gives her daily strength. She is teaching the 14yr olds in Sunday School this year.
Mariana celebrated her 11th birthday by having a “Fancy” tea party with 3 of her closest friends. Mariana loves being involved with the 5th grade band and is excited to participate in an upcoming trip which she gets to travel to on a bus. She has some challenging music in piano which motivates her to practice more. One morning she joined a group of girls 8-11yrs, for a service project sewing bears for an orphanage in Peru. “Because they have been given much they too must give.” Another realization is preparing mentally to enter 6th grade. To stay close to her friends she accepted the encouragement of starting a book club and the first meeting was a big hit!
David excels in school but doesn’t enjoy going. He gets bored. He has taken up an interest in history which motivates him to keep learning. He spends a few days a week practicing his baseball skills. He is taking a small break from piano lessons since his teacher recently gave birth. He isn’t too motivated with scouts, but does not want to quit yet. He won 4th place in the Pinewood Derby!
Joshua is becoming an expert at playing video games. He enjoys the thrill of winning when someone challenges him. He loves getting Kids National Geographic in the mail and reading every page. He can write his name with some letters backwards, and recognizes 90% of his letters. He likes to ride his tricycle and explore the outdoors.
Ethan is a never ending ball of life and energy. He enjoys jogging. He asks a lot of questions and mimicks the thinks he sees and hears. On a shopping trip he burst out singing a church nursery song, “Teach me, teach me do help me find the way”, it was a classic moment!
